 Program History

This program was started in 2004 at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OUHCOM). It is one of the oldest diabetes fellowships in the United States. In 2017, when OUHCOM’s clinical practice merged with Ohio Health, the 2 organizations partnered to continue the tradition of diabetes fellowship. It is a rigorous, one-year program designed to train primary care physicians to be diabetes experts. The program encompasses diabetes clinical experiences including inpatient and outpatient medicine, research and scholarly activity, weekly didactics, as well as diabetes camp and conference experiences.
